About the Doctor:

Dr. Vega completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez Campus and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her doctoral internship with a specialty in Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Autism at the Ponceño Autism Center. She worked as a licensed clinical psychologist at the GoGo Pediatric Institute in Ponce. She then moved to the city of Houston, Texas, where she completed her post-doctoral degree specializing in Pediatric Neuropsychology at the prestigious institutions of Texas Children's Hospital (ranked as the second-best pediatric hospital in the United States, and #2 in neurology and neurosurgery by the  World and News Report), and Baylor College of Medicine (ranked among the best medical schools in the United States). In these institutions, Dr. Vega acquired expertise in the neuropsychological evaluation of children with cancer, brain trauma, epilepsy and other neurological disorders, candidates for cochlear implantation, heart and liver transplantation, as well as neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and developmental delay.

Recognizing the need that exists in Puerto Rico for specialists who work in the evaluation and treatment of these special populations, Dr. Vega decided to return to Puerto Rico to provide her services to our population in the city of Ponce. The doctor has also provided services as a supervisor at the Ponce Health Sciences University, and currently works as an associate professor at the Albizu University -  Mayagüez Campus, in the Clinical Psychology and Master's In Science In Neuropsychology programs.

Dr. Vega also has research experience focused on the evaluation of Puerto Rican and Spanish-speaking children, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis.
